I miss India!

The past month was soooo exciting with my first visit to India! The flight to Bombay was not so encouraging since I did not sleep much and was irritable. A few days after I reached India I got my first tooth. That would explain why I was so restless. I now have 2 whities on the bottom and can bite quite hard when I get excited.

I made it to Bombay just in time for Diwali. I didnt quite notice the fireworks in the sky but I liked watching them when you burst them closely.

I loved meeting my first cousins Devansh Bhai and Manu Bhai, I took only about 5 minutes to get acquainted to them before I started chasing Manu bhai all around the house. I would wake him up every morning and would drop him to school, wait for him to get back and play with him till I would sleep in the evening. We also went swimming and to the mall. I would dance when Dev bhai would play music on his phone. I also picked up cricket from him and Manu bhai and practise it with dad every day using the new bat and ball set that my dadi got me.

Now that I am back I spend hours together playing cricket with papa - he bowls and I bat. I am looking forward to playing hockey and table tennis once I decide to move on from cricket.
I miss the pigeons - Nani would take me to feed the pigeons and I would finish my breakfast watching them. Mom would take me to the temple and I now proudly show everyone how I do jeje. My mami taught me some new skills-I will show you how a fish and an airplane go when we meet next.
I was thrilled to meet all my second cousins, I have so many in India! Dad showed me how to high five, and I will do this excitedly when you ask me to show you. I will post some pictures once mom gets to downloading them.

Trick or treat!

October was a fun month for me. I have been keeping mom on her toes by waking up several times in the night. Its easy to blackmail them with some crying and getting them to pick me up when I wish. Halloween was fun, I went to this party in my building where I was Elmo.

I also went to this other party to celebrate with babies in one of mum's mommy group and I was dressed in a white halloween outfit with pumpkins.

I was the life of the party, everyone was so in awe of my crawling skills:

And here's a picture of me with Gaia, we hit it off pretty well from the get go:

We went to the parade for a bit but I was exhausted after the long day and slept through. I did not give the grown ups a tough time this year but wait till next year, candies here I come!

Look who's teething!

Yesterday was a long day. I did not feel like eating any food, I was irritable and wanted to be held all day. I had no idea where I had been getting all this drool from-till mom noticed an itty bitty white dot in my gums. I guess it was that tiny tooth causing all these problems! I wonder how many more times I will have to go through such days.

Mom got a bit over cautious and got Oragel for the night in case it would get worse but she did not need it. I ate a good dinner and slept on time. I woke up a few times in the night but went back to bed with some soothing. I also had real bad diaper rash but thats better after some diaper rash creme. Besides that I am a happy baby. I keep goig mamamama and dadadadada all day. Mama and Papa are waiting for me to start understanding the meaning of these words.

I love to eat open outlets and plugs. My best place in the house is under the office table, it has these yummy cords hanging underneath! I dont understand why the grown ups dont like the idea. Oh well, I guess grown ups will be grown ups!

Ponderings of an 8-month-old

Hi everyone, I know Ive been quite for some time but the past month has been just so eventful! I have been real busy learning new skills.

I had a wonderful vacation in Maine with mama and papa. They were worried about how I would take the 5+ hour drive but it was very smooth, I slept for most of the time and we took frequent diaper changing breaks. Mama and papa had no issues feeding me on our trip and I would usually nap when I'd get tired on my own. It was fun sharing the bed with them!
Here are some pics from my vacation:

Now that we are back mama and papa are trying to let me cry it out when I wake up to eat at nights. I have been going back to sleep pretty soon, and hopefully I will soon realize I dont need to wake up to eat at night and sleep through.

Dada left for India last week. I will miss his stories, I have been a great listener so far. But dadi is here and I will have fun with her. I had been high fiving people when you give me the palm of your hand. Dadi recently showed me how to clap my hands and I gladly show this skill when I am in the mood. But the keyword is mood. I have started picking up my finger food-not one but all pieces at a time, and dont always understand I need to bring it to my mouth. I have been eating dal and khichdi and I usually do this without a fuss.

As for other skills, I cant wait to walk on my own! At this time I have to make do with any chair or my gym and use it as a walker. Sometimes this gets ugly when the chair falls, taking me with it.

Here are pics from a recent playdate with my old pals Casey and Whitney- our friendship dates back to even before we were born!

Like papa and momma, like Aariv

I love anything with buttons, my favorite toys are the remote, the cellphone, my toy piano and the keyboard (I prefer the laptop but I am getting very skilled with the desktop keyboard too!). Now mommy finds it difficult working with me in her lap. Its a good thing I let her work with me being around the house!

Doctors visit

I had my 6-month doctors visit on Thursday. I am 7 months old now but this visit was delayed since my 4-month visit had to be delayed since I was still under medication for croup and Dr said I have to space my shots 2 months apart. No complaints here with delaying the shots. Dr couldnt believe dad when he told him I crawl. He said it is very early for me to start crawling and gave me his fingers so I held on to them and stood up, only then he believed how fast I was developing. He said "this is a 9 month old baby"! I weigh about 17 lbs now and measure 28 inches.
He gave me 2 shots on each thigh :(

He said I can start eating 3 meals of food a day (yay!) and alternate between milk and food every second meal. This, Mommy and Daddy got me a brand new high chair that makes mealtime so much fun! Mom got me some finger food flavored with fruits and this keeps me occupied. Holding the itty-bitty pieces of food is a challenge, I have to be fed at this time. He also said I must sleep in my crib and not in my parents bed when I wake up in the night. That way I will learn to go back to sleep on my own.

Now I am pretty comfortable crawling all over the house. I dont stay on my mat anymore, I go for a stroll to he kitchen, bathroom or bedroom. I tend to go towards the wheels of my stroller all the time. Daddy and mommy are getting a little worried and have started baby-proofing the house now.

Last two weeks have been very eventful. We had the official naming ceremony where my fois came over and named me. I also got some cool new toys from my fois, yay!!

I also had my first Raksha Bandhan, my mamas and didis visited me, the didis tied me rakhis and I got a lot of gifts. I love occasions!

Here are some pics from a recent day out at the beach:

My jumperoo

Stand me up and you will soon see me jumping. Since I love to jump sooo much mommy and daddy got me a jumperoo. Put me in it and you will see me go crazy as soon as you say jumpy! jumpy!!

Heres a pic of me in my jumperoo:

Boy this workout can get tiring!

I now push against the floor and move around lot easily and really fast, and now instead of going horizontal I have been holding on to the legs of all tables, chairs, sofas and trying to pull myself up to stand.

I even tried to stand in my crib and kaku had to lower the level of the mattress that very day. Man these grown ups can get so antsi.

Half a year old!

Hello everyone, can you believe its been half a year already that I've been around? Mommy and Papa feel Ive ben around forever, and as for myself, It feels like yesterday that I was kicking inside mommy's tummy! Just a few days ago I was tiny, could barely do anything on my own and slowly I started getting bigger and stronger, flipping over, starting to eat and now recently I have started showing signs of crawling, even forward! Yup, I now get on all fours and look at the floor wondering whats next. Then I try moving ahead, I take a step and fall on my face on the next. But it doesnt discourage me, everyone gets really excited and it is fun getting them so thrilled.

Now I can finally start real food.. By real food I mean vegetables, fruits and then dals. Doctor said I should go in that order, try one new thing at a time and wait at least 3-5 days before trying the next to make sure I react okay. I am already eating everything within my reach..cant wait to see what the food everyone eats tastes like!

Cant wait to crawl!

Hey all, Summers here and I love it! I just have to yell a little to get someone to take me out for a walk. I tell you these elders can be quite forgetful. I get dada, dadi, mom or dad to take me out to the park downstairs and nowadays we take the blanket and I sit on the grass, I have a ball there-so much to see!

Hmm so let me see whats new with me...We have been going swimming pretty often and now dad and mom take laps around the pool and pull me along(in my float of course) and I get real cosy. At home put me on the floor and I now raise my butt and get on all fours(almost..I get on my toes and my hands and that makes my butt pop up) and try to walk ahead. Mom says its a cute sight but I am giving her a hard time getting her the perfect shot when she gets the camera out. I am also becoming stronger and kicking real hard..put me in my bassinet and you will soon see it shake when I start kicking. Needless to say, I have outgrown the bassinet and I have got a brand new crib-so much more space and it is so comfortable to sleep on my tummy in this.
See what I mean?

And by popular demand, here are some more pics of me out in the sun:

I love pool time!

I just got 5 months old, and I have been busy getting bigger and stronger. I had to say bye-bye to the bouncer I had used so far, I broke it :o. Mom and dad had to rush to make an emergency bouncer purchase and this time they got one that can withstand more weight. I love the new bouncer they got, it has this cow that sings when you pull on it and I keep pulling at it. I have got so anti-being-on-my-back I flip over the minute you put me on my back. I even sleep on my tummy in my bassinet, and this worries mom and dad and they keep checking on me several times in the night, it will take some time to get them used to this.

I have started solid foods now-rice cereal since a week and just today I tried a banana-I really liked it but I must say eating is a messy affair.

I went to the swimming pool with dad and mom for the first time last evening and it was so much fun! I was a bit cold at first but it got a lot better as I went into the water. I was kicking my legs in the water and daddy said I will learn to swim real soon!

19 week update

Now flipping over is literally childs play for me. Put me on my back and you will soon see me flipping on my tummy and kicking my feet and pushing ahead. I try to hold all of my toys in my hands, and if mom, dadi or any didi carries me I like to use their hair as a handle to keep myself propped up. So do not forget to keep your hair tied up if you plan on keeping seeing me a painless affair.

I am getting stronger in all directions and pushing with my hands and feet, and I love being manhandled. You wil love to play with me now. And my big secret - a lot of you have seen this, I have been chuckling when you make funny faces and sounds. I have also started loving books and follow your finger when you show me different things in books and tell me their names. I have been making a lot of new sounds and noises when I play. The times when all I used to say was ughee are behind now. Nana nani have gone back to India now but they know I will talk to them over the phone. However I am happy I now have dada dadi to play with me and spoil me!

I finally found my hands!

Hi guys, I am sorry for the gap on updating you on the latest, but I've been so busy learning new things, it hardly leaves me any time for a to blog! I promise I will be a more responsible 4 month old and write more often. Last week my latest was trying to pull the mitten off my hands with the other hand, and in the absence of a mitten trying to pull my finger off. It never worked and always upset me.

This week my dada dadi came to meet me from India. It feels good to know I am this important. I have discovered my hands and have started tugging at the toys hanging from my bouncer and of lately, ever since I bring my hands together and press them, dadi says there he goes, making ladvas again!

Just today I have started turning to being on my tummy as soon as you put me on my back on the mat. I prefer the floor to the mat, and once you put me on mthe floor, I turn and try to crawl. Something isnt right coz I always seem to go reverse instead of going forward. I'll work on figuring that one out in the coming days...

Come see me flip!

I now gladly oblige anyone that puts me on my tummy and try to flip. It is a lot easier to flip when someone gives me a little push on my shoulder, but I guess this will not last a long time, I will have to learn to get independent on this. I have also learnt to raise my head when Im lying down to try and sit up.
Last week I got my first car-my stroller! It took dad and mom a few tries to get me in at an angle that I like but once they found that angle it was so much fun! Mom took me around today and I was geting an awesome view from my seat-and she seemed to like it too, cause she was telling dad she is going to take me out in the stroller everyday. Thats gonnna pretty much take up all my evenings, which means less time for my baby bjorn walks. Boy, so many choices, it aint easy being a baby!

I am 3 months old now!

I am now 3 months old. I have now started reinforcing the one hand that I put in my mouth by holding it with my other hand and using it to shove my hand into my mouth. Sometimes it gets distasteful if it goes too deep inside my mouth. Sometimes I lose my balance and my hands, and it makes me upset.

Chachu got me a nice tummy-time mat for my 3 month birthday. I guess this means more tummy time for me. Yesterday nana put me on the mat on my tummy and I flipped over 3 times. He told dad about it but I wasnt in mood to repeat my performance for dad then.

Doctors visit

I had my 2-month doctors visit on Friday. I was actually 11 weeks old, but thats how they had scheduled the appointment. Doctor was quite impressed with me holding my head up when he put me on my tummy on his table. He was showing mom and dad how I will be flipping over on the next few weeks. They will have to be around since I will flip over with my hand below me and I will not know how to get it out of there.
Now I am pretty comfy putting my left hand into my mouth too, mom and dad were worried about this and asked the doctor. Doc said this is my way of exploring the hand and fingers.
Doc then gave me my first dose of shots. I will get them at 4 and 6 months next. I got 4 shots today, it made me upset :(. I was cranky in the night but the next day was a lot better.
The other day daddy kept kissing me many times repeatedly and I showed him I could kiss him right back. He was shocked and told mom about it. I also showed mom I could smack my lips when she took me out in the baby bjorn yesterday.

I found my thumb!

This week I have mastered the art of putting my right hand, and if I find my thumb-my right thumb in my mouth and sucking on it. I hold on to my onesie with my left hand and put my right hand into my mouth- this keeps me really busy at playtime. Once I start doing this it worries mom since even if she pushes my right hand out my face turns red, I keep yelling to revolt and put it right back in. If she puts mittens on, I used to yell initially but I now realise I will have to do with the mittens- I suck on the thumb through the mitten. Then nani ties a cloth around the mitten. This makes it really hard and makes me cry. But they dont listen. Sometimes I get distracted and forget about putting the hand back. Lets see if they succeed in making me forget about sucking on my thumb, or if I win the battle!
